Couple Necklaces

Let's just ignore the cheesiness of couple necklaces for a moment, shall we?

My husband and I got these some five years ago. Handmade and with a simple contemporary design, they're like modern-day yin yang. These are very lightweight as they are made of aluminium. We got our names engraved behind each piece - his name on mine and my name on his.

That might sound romantic but here's reality: We hardly ever wear them at the same time. In fact, my husband's has taken permanent residence in the drawer!

Leather Belt Purse

It's convenient to carry your purse on the hips, but is this belt purse decorative or functional?

I tried it but the purse buldges oddly with anything more than a piece of tissue paper and a couple of Euro bills.

Definitely decorative.

Square Cocktail Ring

Cocktail rings are supposed to be ostentatious but this one doesn't fit the bill perfectly. It isn't big enough to scream pretentiousness and yet, it isn't small enough to be called dainty.

A market find, this square ring was. It is of gunmetal-coloured alloy with what I believe is a thin coat of purple resin on the square surface, thin enough to see through to the curls-and swirls design underneath. There seems to be some Tibetan influence in the whole look of the ring.

It is imperfect: rough around the edges and slightly bent in one corner. It's cheap, flawed but endearing.

The Charm Of Simple Earrings

A hoop earring that is the figure of '8' curved backwards into a 'C' shape.

Uncomplicated. I like simplicity. Coat: Mango

My Happy Bead Bracelet

I wasn't writing much on Witoxicity last summer, after my father passed away. In most of my spare time, I was beading instead.

It's uplifting to look at beads. Really, it is. Looking at beads of all shapes, sizes and colours takes me to another world, a happy one. To me, walking into a bead supply store is like a kid walking into a candy store. Well, if you love beads, you'd know what I mean.

I made this bracelet during that time, inspired by a picture I saw in a book at a bookstore. It's a two-string bracelet made up of a hodge-podge of beads that I happened to have, but staying within the red/pink/white colour group. I rummaged through my mother's button stash (accummulated over several decades) and I was lucky enough to find the perfect pink button to go with it!

I've made many bracelets but this one is by far my favourite. Looking at it always cheers me up.
